Job Purpose

The Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to contribute to the creation of an enabling business environment that empowers small businesses and entrepreneurs to sustain, develop and grow through entrepreneurship, enterprise development and innovation. The post is stationed in Cape Town CBD.

Minimum Requirements

An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Economics, Business or related field; A minimum of 3 years management level experience.

Recommendation

A post–graduate tertiary qualification in Economics, Business or related field; A valid driving license (Code B or higher). Note: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities but have reasonable access to transport may also apply.

Key Performance Areas

Develop, implement, and monitor programmatic initiatives to: Provide opportunities via public and private sector (e.g., procurement as a tool for SMME development (e.g., and access to markets) for small business; Enable small business access to non-financial and financial support, entrepreneurship opportunities and innovation; Improve the enabling environment and enhancing the ease of doing business for business through government and private sector interaction; Strengthen partnerships to provide business development support services (e.g., leverage funding and access to market opportunities) to enhance business sustainability and growth; Management of the human resources of the sub-directorate to achieve the pre-determined performance indicators and service delivery imperatives, motivated, competent, appreciated and performance orientated staff and sound labour relations; Plan the sub-directorate’s budget and manage expenditure, through responsible implementation of policies, practices, and decisions to achieve unit objectives effectively and efficiently.

Remuneration
All-inclusive salary package of R 849 702 per annum (Salary Level 11).

Note on remuneration: to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

Notes
