Kumba Iron Ore
We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; planning; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
We are currently seeking a Millwright to conduct work on various equipment pieces. This is a key role within the team where you will:
- Adhere to all health and safety practices requirements and promote good housekeeping to ensure compliance and an environment where team members can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment
- Maintain and test all equipment / machinery to ensure functionality, safety and availability to complete work within the specified timeframe and budgetary limits
- Ensure that the work environment is equipped with the necessary spare parts and defective components are identified in order to find and implement permanent solutions
- Ensure work is executed as per Operating Model standards & procedures
- Ensure job cards are completed in full and returned back on time
- Ensure all toolboxes and tools are kept in good condition
- Ensure proper communication and handover on outstanding tasks between shifts and day shift teams
- Provide accurate and understandable information as well as continuous on-the-job training to assist learner / team member to acquire the required competencies and address any shortcomings
- Supervise work practices and skills of learners / team members to ensure performance on the required level and compliance with company policies and procedures
- Aid supervisor and co-workers when required within company policies, procedures and guidelines to enhance teamwork objectives
- Provide advice in all maintenance related matters and tactics to all concerned parties in a pro-active manner aligned with best practices and within agreed upon timeframes to avoid possible problems and uplift competence base.
This is a Fixed Term Contract role in the Asset Strategy & Reliability: Drills & Infrastructure Department on a J4.3 level reporting to the Engineering Supervisor
- Grade 12 or N3 Technical Matric
- N2
- Qualified as an Artisan/Trade Certificate (Millwright)
- Valid driver’s license
- Medical Fitness
You will need strong experience in the following:
- 3 Years’ experience as an Artisan working on HME equipment in a mechanical and electrical fault finding and breakdown environment on Komatsu 860E, 960E Trucks, Pit viper 351 Drills, Komatsu Track, and Wheel Dozers, CAT 16M, 24H Graders, Liebherr 9250 Excavators.
