Requirements :
National Diploma in Transport Economics/Economics (NQF Level 6) as recognized by SAQA. Bachelor Degree in these fields will be an added advantage. A minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience obtained in an economic policy analysis environment, Knowledge and experience of applied microeconomics, Knowledge and experience of the latest trends on research tools, Knowledge and experience in the dissemination and interpretation of economic policy outcomes. Good communication (written and verbal) skills; computer literacy and be a team player. Knowledge of transport planning, public transport, traffic engineering, freight transport, environmental & land use. Knowledge and experience Road Network and research technical analysis knowledge; technical report writing; project management. Co-ordination of multiple projects and development of economic transport infrastructure frameworks. A valid Driver’s License.
Duties :
Undertake economic assessment for freight projects and manage economic analysis with regards to strategic transport network planning, the feasibility of integration of the overall planning of freight transport in Gauteng, modelling and simulation of cost benefit analysis. Analyze and advise on the financial and economic viability of transport initiatives/ investments. Provide economic guidance and transport funding feasibility in the review of the 25-Year Integrated Transport Master Plan (ITMP25). Align Departmental/Transport Authority plans with national initiatives. Provide support in the coordination and update of the Provincial Land Transport Framework (PLTF) in relation to freight transport. Evaluate, coordinate and facilitate Integrated Transport Plans (ITP’s) with regards to cross municipal/provincial border integration. Facilitate specific transport related studies, surveys, research and draft analytical documents on current transportation policy issues.
