Position Purpose

To implement an effective occupational health programme in line with planned objectives.

Position Outputs

1 Implement a health programme for employees that lead to promotion, protection and restoration of the employee’s health within a safe working environment.eg perform medical examinations.
2 Attend departmental SHE meetings and give input.
3 Conduct tenants audits with SHE team.
4 Conduct Induction presentations with SHE team.
5 Implement ISO standards including OHSAS18001.
6 Comply with statutory requirements and company policies and procedures.
7 Function effectively within a given budget.
8 Ensure Human Capital development for self.
9 Implement planned programmes to address identified health risks for the Port.eg perform walkthroughs and replenish first aid boxes.
10 Implement an Annual Operations plan for Health services.
11 Liaise with outside agencies regarding latest development in health field.
12 Prepare and provide relevant health information and statistics for various health activities.
13 Implement Primary Health care services, monitor all chronic illnesses and attend to minor injuries and emergencies.
14 Monitor all HIV cases and organise awareness sessions.
15 Implement all clinic activities as planned by the Human environment manager.
16 Acting as HE Manager in her absence

Qualifications and Experience

• Qualification as a Professional nurse (Diploma/ Degree in Nursing Science.) • B-Tech in Occupational Health or Diploma in Occupation Health Nursing • Dispensing license • Certificate in Audiometry. Spirometry Certificate • Code 8 driver’s license Minimum Years Relevant Experience: • 3 – 5 years

Competencies

Knowledge Required: Principles of Occupational Health care and Primary Health Care environment. Applicable legislation, e.g. Occupational Health & Safety Act (85/1983 •: • Medicine and Control of Substance Act (101/1965) Nursing Act (50/1978) Medical Resource and Equipment Dynamics of HIV/AIDS Management Risk Assessment Inspection and site audits Vision Screening First Aid Skills Required: Communication Decision Making Interpersonal Skills Analytic Ability Teamwork Listening Supporting Others Computer Literacy Organizing Feedback Documentation Managing resources
